HURIDE canvases support for cancer patients

….Makes cash donation

Human Rights, Liberty Access, and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), has called on individuals and corporate organizations to come to the aid of cancer patients in Nigeria.

They also made cash donations of N38, 000 to Ms Roseline Obi’s cancer treatment.

Obi hails from Ogbunka coommunity in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State but resides at Okpoko, a sub of Onitsha, and has been down with breast cancer.

Dede Uzor A Uzor, lamented that many Nigeria women are suffering from cancer, and if individuals and organizations assist them, lives would be save.

Uzor challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and the state governors to use the opportunity offered by Covid-19 to build Nigeria’s health sector.

He noted that there are a lot of sicknesses which kill Nigerians like fowls because of poor healthcare delivery in the country as well as abject poverty.

He further said Covid -19 was a lesson to Nigerian leaders and elite who were rushing abroad for medical tourism, that the best way is to improve the healthcare system in their country.

“Since the outbreak of the Covid -19 pandemic no Nigerian leader dared travel abroad for whatever reason,” he said.

He lamented that failure of leadership has resulted in sicknesses which ought not have killed nigerians but are however, wasting lives.

The group chairman, told Obi’s niece, Mrs Anulika Udoaku, who received the money on her behalf to use the money judiciously for her treatment .

Dede Uzor assured that they will not hesitate to invite her if there is further donation.

Mrs. Udoaku while thanking members of HURIDE for their gesture assured that the money would be channelled appropriately for the treatment of her relation.
