Fire outbreak at Dangote refinery: No cause for alarm – Mangmt

The Dangote Refinery is reported to have been engulfed by fire as
explosions were stated to have been heard this Wednesday after a major fire outbreak at the refinery located at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.

However, in quick reaction, the management of Dangote Refinery has dispelled fears over the fire incident which occurred at its Effluent Treatment Plant(ETP), today, saying there is no cause for alarm.

The company in a terse statement, sighted by Nation Update said it swiftly contained what the situation it described as a minor fire incident.

The e-signed statement by Anthony Chiejina, noted: “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June.

“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty.”

It will be recalled that Aliko Dangote, the Africa’s richest man and owner of Dangote Groups had disclosed that he fought and overcame a strong group of local and foreign mafia before establishing the $19 billion refinery.

Dangote said the mafia in the oil sector, who are stronger than those doing drugs, did everything they could to sabotage the refinery project.

Speaking at the Afreximbank annual meeting and AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum in the Bahamas recently, Dangote said he never anticipated that the resistance would be harsh.
