COVID -19: Anglican Church makes N10m worth of donation

…Directs dioceses to build food bank

As part of its  support to the federal government in the fight against the global pandemic (coronavirus) in the country, the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has donated items worth N10 million to the Presidential Taskforce on COVID -19.

Making the presentation which were more of medical consumables, the Primate of all Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, however said the response of the Church to COVID-19 will be in the three areas of spiritual, physical and material.

He stated that the Church is giving support through the medical consumables being procured, that the support will go to both the federal and state governments in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving the donation in his office in Abuja, on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus (PTF-COVID-19), Boss Mustapha thanked the church for the donation, noted that the donation would go a long way to
assist medical/health workers.

Mustapha also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), represented by Mr Willie Bassey, Director of Information in his office stated that the Anglican Communion was among the first to advise it’s members to obey the government on stay at home directive and congregational meetings.

The Primate of the Church Ndukuba who recently took over as the head of the Church in Nigeria added that the medical consumables presented to the taskforce was worth N10 million.

He restated that the Church will not relent to intensify prayers on behalf of the country to ensure the healing of the land, added that the physical aspect will not be undermined.

The bishop said he had directed all the bishops in the dioceses and parishes of the church to build food banks for distribution of food to indigent persons.
