Bunu earns praise as Indorama workers celebrate successful CBA signing

The Indorama Unit of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has commended the President-General of the Union, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, for his leadership and commitment to workers’ welfare.

The commendation follows the successful signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the Union and Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (OIPL) at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Onne Port Complex, Rivers State.

In a release signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, the workers conveyed thier appreciation through a letter jointly signed by the Unit Chairman, Comrade Obarijima, and Secretary, Comrade George O. Moses, in which the workers expressed appreciation for the President-General’s unwavering dedication to improving their working conditions.

In a release signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, the workers described Comrade Bunu as a responsive and principled leader whose commitment to addressing workers’ concerns and prioritising their welfare remains unmatched in the maritime industry.

“Comrade Bunu has demonstrated exceptional leadership, with a listening ear and an uncompromising stance on workers’ welfare. His commitment to ensuring that workers’ interests are protected is second to none,” the letter stated.

The Indorama Unit attributed the successful conclusion of the Collective Bargaining Agreement to the Union’s strategic engagement and the President-General’s genuine concern for the workforce.

According to the workers, the Union’s diplomatic approach and transparent leadership were instrumental in achieving a mutually beneficial agreement.

“The Union’s approach, coupled with the President-General’s sincere intentions, played a vital role in ensuring the successful outcome of the negotiation process,” the statement noted.

Boost for Workers, Company Growth

The workers further described the agreement as a milestone that would enhance their welfare while also supporting the sustainable growth of the company.

They noted that the transparency and accountability demonstrated by the Union leadership were critical factors that ensured the success of the negotiations and strengthened confidence among members.

While commending the MWUN leadership, the Indorama Unit also expressed gratitude to the management of Indorama for its cooperation and sincerity throughout the process.

The workers offered prayers for the continued success of the Union and its leadership, expressing optimism that the agreement would foster improved industrial harmony and productivity.
