After the annulment of the June 12 election, the Committee for Unity and Understanding (CUU) formed not long after the Babangida transition-to-civil-rule programme with such founders as himself, Mr. Ayo Opadokun, Chief Edward Kobani, Chief Lulu Briggs, Chief Sam Mbakwe, Alhaji Abdulazeez Ude, Ambassador Tanko Yusuf, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe and General Theophilus Danjuma.
