Breaking : Again, Court sacks lawmakers for defecting from PDP to APC

Just as the dust of the sacking of the governor of Ebonyi State, his deputy and all the lawmakers that moved with him from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), to the All Progressive Congress (APC) was yet to settle, an Abuja Federal High Court has sacked 20 members of the Cross River State House of Assembly.
Their defection last year from the PDP to the APC the Court said was unacceptable.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo gave the judgment in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/975/2021, which was filed by the PDP.Taiwo declared that lawmakers, having abandoned the political party that sponsored them to power, ought to vacate their seats.
He said, ”The action of the 5th to the 25th Defendants is feeble and constitutes an attempt to pull wool over the eyes of the court.
“Their counter affidavit is manifestly defective” Justice Taiwo held.
He, therefore, granted all the reliefs sought by the PDP, warning politicians to know that power belongs to the citizens not they politicians.
