Anglican Church holds online Synod

The Anglican Diocese of Lagos West is set to hold her annual synod for 2020 on Thursday September 10, 2020.

The Bishop of the Diocese, the Rt Revd Dr. James Olusola Odedeji while making the announcement said the Synod with the theme: ‘the Just shall live by Faith’ (Rom 1:17) will hold simultaneously at the Diocesan Cathedral, Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos and in all the 29 Archdeaconry Headquarters in the diocese.

Odedeji said the Online teleconference technology called Webinar will be employed though the Diocesan website, Zoom and social media – YouTube, Facebook and others shall all stream.

According to the Bishop Odedeji, who is also the President of the Synod, the Synod Delegates both Clergy and Laity will converge at their respective Archdeaconry headquarters while he will be anchoring from the diocesan headquarters for the
one day synod.

The virtual Synod which is the first of its kind in the history of the 21 year old Diocese of Lagos West is in compliance to the government rules and protocols guiding operations of worship places as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s Synod which is the 3rd Session of the 7th Synod of the diocese, as each session runs for three years shall feature majorly the Presidential Charge, concrete decision to move the church forward and the passing of the yearly account.

Unlike previous synods that run for four days with many congested activities, this year’s synod will however attend to very few critical areas concerning the church. login details , such as Meeting Identity and Passcode have all been made available.

Synod is an ecclesiastic council or meeting to consult on church matters. It usually sites once in a year.
