MWUN retracts statement on Warri Port accident claim

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has retracted an earlier statement claiming Warri Port recorded the highest incidents of accidents across Nigeria’s seaports.

MWUN dearly acknowledged that the information was erroneous and apologizing to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Warri management.

The workers union expressed regret over the mistake, asking the general public to disregard the previous report published in some online media on September 23, 2025.

In an e-signed release signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, MWUN’s Head of Media, Wednesday 24 September made available to Nationupdate stated it has retracted and apologized over the statement, emphasizing the Union’s wish to correct the error and apologize to NPA Warri, Delta State.

The retraction underscores MWUN’s commitment to accuracy in communications regarding maritime and port operations in Nigeria.
