Where’re Chinese doctors, Nigerians ask

…give us update on our Chinese August Visitors.

As the issues surrounding the purportedly 15 medical doctors imported into the country in early April even against the wishes of medical  groups and  Nigerians becomes more controversial, voices are gathering up to inquire from the government of there whereabout.

Most of the pressing questions in the lips of Nigerians begging for answer include, whether they have completed their mission to Nigerian and have gone? and if they are in the country where are they?

In a release by the Director General, Global Initiative for Good Governance, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu, made available to Nation update online, said it has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to demand from the President and his team, the whereabouts of their “Chinese August Visitors.”

Kalu said its indeed worrisome that the whereabout of the supposedly 15 medical experts brought into the country from the epicentre of the virus, to help Nigeria in the fight against the deadly virus would now be shrouded in utmost secrecy regardless of the apprehension that greeted their coming.

Dr. Kalu  who is also the Publicity Secretary, People’s  Democratic Party (PDP), Youth Alliance said some of the irrational and self opinionated decisions of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration have in no small measure,  retrogressed the nation so much.

He said, “I am more concerned that while most people believed that the Chinese Doctors were coming to cause more harm, people like me demanded we give the administration the benefit of doubt, knowing that in good wisdom they will not make decisions that will harm Nigerians.

“BUT, on the other instance, we seems to have been kept in the dark as to what is going on around us. COVID-19 confirmed cases have continued to skyrocket on daily basis which has proved the skeptics right. But I believe it is time for Buhari and his men to bring us out of the woods.

“Where are the Doctors? What was their mission in the first place? Did they achieve it and left or are they still with us in this country? This is the time they have to tell us every truth concerning this matter so that we can know what we are dealing with,” he asserted.

He said  the right to inform  the citizens of whatever  they wish  to know is an inalienable right which is also enshrined  in the social  contract  they signed with  their leaders, that on this premise, the citizens have sought  to know, it behoves on the government to tell them.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire had said in Abuja that  he cannot account for the whereabouts of the Chinese team who were brought into the country from the epicenter of the pandemic, despite repeated warnings and disapprovals by Nigeria’s medical experts and professional bodies.

But the PDP  through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, could not hold back their concern over the unfolding drama.

The party said it recalled how officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration had strongly defended the invitation of the Chinese team and offered them full state protocol upon arrival, only to turn around to disclaim the supposed experts, deny involvement with them and even forbid Nigerians from inquiring about their whereabouts.

PDP  therefore described as suspicious and weird the notion that the minister of health, who had repeatedly assured that the Chinese were brought to render medical services and training, went personally to receive them at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on April 8, 2020, in a publicized event, can no longer account for the team.
