Gombe Stadium agog as ex-Eagles Captain Andrew Uweh, Coach Ambrose arrive for Principal Cup Competition

The Pantami Stadium Gombe has become the synosure of football-loving eyes with the presence of former Flying Eagles Captain Andrew Uweh and Coach Henry Ambrose from Germany.

The duo and other expected foreign observers are in Gombe to scout for players to train for foreign clubs overseas at the ongoing Inter Secondary School Athletics and Principal Cup Competition in the state.

Uweh and Ambrose who arrived on Tuesday were received amid loud ovation from expectant organizers and spectators.

Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, sponsor of the competition escorted them into the Pantami Stadium where Dr Alex Mana the managing director of the competition and other officials were on hand to receive them.

The ongoing soccer and athletics competition is billed to feature 40 public schools and 25 private schools across the state.

The opening football match of the tournament was between Government Day Junior Secondary School and Savannah Group of School.
