Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 2,250 officers for security of citizens

As part of measures to ensure adequate security of lives and property of citizens, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro has deployed a total of two thousand, two hundred and fifty(2,250) officers and men to ensure adequate security, protection of worship places during and after the period

This, the commandant said was to contain the untoward activities of criminal elements, renew fight against pipeline vandalism and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure amidst others in the state.

In a release made available to Nation Update by ASCI Abolurin Olumide, Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer of NSCDC,

the Commandant disclosed that it was germaine to switch on the eagle eye of security during the yuletide celebrations and at all times.

He further said that this efforts would help to rid of criminals and eradicate the nefarious activities of vandals and other criminal elements that could be inimical to the economic growth and development of the state.

Commandant Eweka, in a bid to ensure peace and tranquility and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure amongst other things, in Lagos State before, during and after this year’s Christmas and New year celebration.

He has also intentionalised and institutionalized new operational strategies in the State Command Headquarters, Area Commands, Divisional Offices, Right of ways and other tactical formations of the Command.

Meanwhile, he has handed over the operational guidelines to the Head of Departments, Head of Units in the Command, six(6) Area Commanders, twenty(20) Divisional Officers, thirty-seven(37) officers-in-charge(OCs) of sub-divisions and outposts, Unit and Tactical Commanders.

He charged the officers to bring the right and appropriate impetus on board to protect all strategic locations, points, facilities, right of ways, oil pipeline installations, religious and worship centres, parks and gardens and all assets belonging to the local, state and federal government levels before, during and after the celebration.

This, he said would be achieved through the use of robust intelligence gathering, intensive patrols – physical and psychological, crime prevention mechanisms, Quick Intervention Squad approach (QIS) and collective security approach.

The commandant, while congratulating all Christian Faithful in the state, over this year’s Christmas celebration, however warned the officers and men deployed to various strategic points to be on the alert as they discharge their duties without fear or favour of any kind.

He further charged the officers and men deployed to remain professional, competent, respect the rights and privileges of the civil populace, in the discharge of their duties, before, during and after the celebration.

He wished all Christians a merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance.
