A partnership aimed at driving youth involvement in national development has seen Alimosho Local Government Chairman Hon. Johnson collaborate with GPSI, focusing on mobilizing support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid amidst ongoing youth empowerment initiatives in Alimosho.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the GPSI to the Chairman’s office last Thursday.
The meeting, held at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat, brought together top local government officials, youth leaders, and coordinators of the GPSI from various zones.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Johnson commended the group for their grassroots-focused strategy and emphasized the crucial role young Nigerians play in the future of the country.
He expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and noted that youth mobilization will be key to ensuring continuity of developmental strides across the country.
“Alimosho is the heartbeat of Lagos and a stronghold of progressive politics. We are ready to work with GPSI and other like-minded groups to ensure that Nigerian youths are not just spectators but active participants in shaping the 2027 elections,” Hon. Johnson stated.
The Chairman further reiterated his commitment to youth empowerment, noting that his administration is already implementing various initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, education, and civic engagement among young people in Alimosho.
In his remarks, Director General, GPS-I, Hon. Okedara Kolawole, congratulated the chairman and his team on their successful election and expressed his team’s commitment to working closely with the administration.
The G-PSI, Kolawole explained, was designed to foster a stronger connection with the constituents, ensuring that the party remained attuned to their needs and concerns.
“The initiative aimed to interface with local government stakeholders and political office holders to assess ongoing projects and provide recommendations for improvement”, he explained.
Kolawole outlined the key focus areas of the G-PSI approach, including establishing robust feedback mechanisms, conducting regular research and analysis, providing yearly capacity-building programs, and launching community-based initiatives.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration and pledged to work closely with the administration to develop and implement programs that would benefit the community and the party’s sustainability.
The chairman, visibly impressed by the initiative, assured Kolawole and his team of his administration’s full support.
He acknowledged the importance of grassroots sustainability and expressed his willingness to partner with G-PSI to promote the party’s ideology in Alimosho.
