Tin Can Customs surpasses 2023 February revenue collection, records over 41% increase same period, 2024

…Coordinates 100% physical exams, intercepts arms, illicit drugs

In consonance with the vision of consolidation and innovation of the present administration, the Tin Can Command of the Nigerian Customs Service(NCS)has sustained its revenue feat by generating
N100,399,354,887.71 in the month of February alone against
N41,518,738,649.09 it made in February 2023.
Making the startling revelations last Friday during media briefing at Tin Can Customs Command, the Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi said whereas the command has sharpened its revenue-generating machinery having collected a whooping sum of N240 million between January and the middle of March 2024, it was same time ruthless and efficient in its anti-smuggling drive, made sure no illicit item slips through the control of the port.
Breakdown of the arms intercepted includes 12 pieces of rifles and 6 pistols, two (2) packets of 50pcs of 9mm live ammunition, totaling 100 rounds.
Other illicit items seized were twenty-three packets weighing 23kg of substance confirmed to be heroin.
” Marked white 999– Ten (10) packets of 1kg each=10kg
ii. Marked white 888– Three (3) packets of 1kg each =3kg
iii. Marked blue Saphire— Eight (8) packets of 1kg each = 8kg
iv. Marked 777 Bentley— Two (2) packets of 1kg each=2kg.
Other items intercepted include
Flat screen Television sets, HP printer, Six (6) cartons containing scanner machines, Five (5) empty metal Jerry cans, Two (2) washing machines, Three (3) sets of bed frames, One (1) set of living room furniture, Three (3) used microwave, One (1) used vacuum cleaner, Table tennis, One (1) sport bicycle, Two wooden crates of light fittings, One (1) wooden crate containing a motorized toy car.
Others are a DSTV dish, One (1) used Samsung refrigerator, Four (4) sets of used sound systems, One (1) used barbecue grill, Two (2) used toasters, Three (3) used blenders and Sixteen (16) bags containing used clothes and personal effects.

These feats according to Nnadi was through collaborative efforts of its eagle-eyed officers and other sister agencies.
Breakdown of revenue collection from January 2024 to 13 March, 2024 revealed that revenue collected so far included N88 billion in January which is 7.89 percent than N42 billion collected in the corresponding month of 2023.
In February 2024, the command generated N100 billion which is 41.82% higher than the value collected during the same period in 2023 which was N41. 5billion.
The command recorded the sum of N42 billion from 1st – 13th March 2024.
The controller however extolled the leadership acumen of the CGC Adewale Adeniyi, the compliant stakeholders as well as the corporation and collaboration of the relevant sister agencies which have helped the command greatly to record this feat at this point in time.
