Tin Can customs frowns at non compliance by stakeholders, harps on cleaner ports

In an unwavering efforts aimed at easing businesses at the Tin-Can Customs Command and to boosting the nation’s revenue, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, has once more engaged stakeholders at the port on compliance.

Nnadi assured agents and other businessmen who use the Command as transit route for their cargoes that genuinely declared cargos from complaint traders will not be delayed especially as the year enters its final quarter.

Harping on the Command’s 2024 operational theme of “Year of the Stakeholders”, Nnadi reiterated that the well-being of all who come to do business in the command is a priority to him, the Command and the Service.

In a statement on Monday, issued by the Public Relations Officer(PRO), NCS, Ngozi Okwara , the Area Controller stated that his interaction with stakeholders was on new modalities of what is expected of the trading public who do business in the Command on a daily basis.

He promised to ensure that all new crested bonded terminals domicile in TCIP has space available for stakeholders .

Further to that he lamented that no space has been created at the command, even as he promised to address issues bothering on limited space at the command which was hinged on the ongoing renovation premises.

On issues of cleanliness at the command, the customs the controller advised stakeholders at the gathering to embrace a healthier and cleaner environment , pending when new bins will be distributed at designated areas as part of measures to portrays a healthy lifestyle.

Highlighting that the year is at its last quarter, he appreciated all efforts put in to ensure that the revenue for the year is achieved as he called for compliance as all hands on deck can make it happen.

To those who think they can circumvent he warned to desist the system should have themselves to blame as cutting of corners will not be negotiated.

He appealed to stakeholders to keep the environment clean pending when new bins will be distributed at designated areas to sustain a clean, healthy working environment for the Command,
