The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria(MWUN), has received accolades from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for its prompt and efficient delivery of electoral materials to all 12 littoral locations in the state.

Dr. Michael Odey, Chairman of RSIEC said such performance and promptness was a paradigm shift in the distribution process of electoral materials in the state having struck an agreement with the leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria towards the effective distribution of voting materials.

In an e-signed release by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN made available to Nationupdate, the union deployed three hundred speed boats to supply voting materials to all locations in the state.

According to Dr. Odey, the MWUN leadership, headed by President-General Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, successfully coordinated its seamen and boat districts to deliver electoral materials to their destinations, as such meeting the targets for the local government elections was never a difficult task to the union.
