Reps member decries killing of security men on duty in Imo

The Tuesday ambush and killing of security operatives by hoodlums at Umualumaku, Ehime-Mbano of Imo State has been condemned in the strongest terms by the member, representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte-Uboma/ Obowo at the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonas Okeke.

Okeke described the gruesome killing of the men made up of officers of the Nigeria Army, Police and Civil Defence as without value, and an economic sabotage that must be stopped.

In a release signed by PaulMajor Okafor, his Special Assistant on Strategic Communication, he expressed his heartfelt commiseration to the Families of the gallant Security Operatives who were gruesomely murdered while serving their father land.

“I express my heartfelt emotion at the unfortunate event, I pray and commiserate with the wives, children and friends of the deceased families of the security operatives who paid the supreme price on active service.

“My condolence goes to the hierarchy of the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC), for the loss of their gallant officers during the unfortunate event.”

The heart broken lawmaker described the incident as indeed pathetic even when the officers are supposedly protecting the people of the Constituency.

Heightened insecurity in Ehime Mbano/Ihitte-Uboma/ Obowo and indeed all parts of Imo State, he described as antithetical to development, economic growth and capable of eroding any form of progress anticipated or recorded in the past.

Hon Okeke, a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly assured the people of Ehime Mbano, his constituents and the state of coordinated effort to restore peace in the zone and forestall future occurrences.

However enjoined the people to be their brothers’ keepers and take the issue of insecurity seriously.

Security he reminded is everybody’s business, prayed that God in his infinite mercy grant the souls of the departed eternal rest and give the living the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
