Pregnant housewife chops off husband’s manhood, escapes being lynched

A pregnant housewife who was alleged to have cut of her husband’s manhood escaped being lynched by relations of the victim.

The 25-year-old known as Halima, carried out the attack on Tuesday at Tella town in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The victim, Aliyu Umar, was said to be sleeping when the wife unleashed her anger it was his outcry that alerted Family members.

The younger brother of the victim, Shagari Umar, stated that while they ran to the room where Aliyu was, they saw him reclining in a pool of blood, they quickly rushed him to hospital.

Umar said, “We found his wife, Halima, sitting by the bedside holding the sharp knife with which she cut off the manhood of our brother.

“The saving grace of Halima is because she is pregnant and for the intervention of elders who rescued her and called in the police, she would have been lynched by angry neighbour and family members,”Umar stated.

According to him, Aliyu was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, a distance of about 150 kilometres from Tella town.

He stated that on arrival at the hospital, he was quickly attended to and the bleeding was eventually controlled after surgery that took hours.

A surgeon, at the hospital, Dr Kyantiki Peter Adam who attended to Aliyu narrated how he was called to the emergency unit of the hospital to see a patient with traumatic amputation of a penile shat.

Adam stated, “What we did was to quickly stop the bleeding and do all the necessary surgery on the damaged part of the manhood because the patient had lost a lot of blood before he was brought to the hospital.”

Adamu was optimistic that the patient had 100 percent survival chances, but regreated that the relations decided to move him to another hospital.

According to the brother of the victim, Shagari Umar, they have moved their brother from the FMC in Jalingo to the FMC Gombe.

“We decided to remove our brother from Federal medical Centre, Jalingo and take him to Federal Medical Centre, Gombe for intensive care.”

When contacted, the Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP David Misal, confirmed the incident, and that the woman,Halima was arrested as investigation has started in earnest.
