Oyo/Osun Customs seeks enhanced intelligence sharing with Army, EFCC

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intensified efforts to bolster national security and improve service delivery through renewed collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

As part of this initiative, the Garrison Commander of the 2 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Saddiq Bugaje, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command in Ibadan.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation, noting that the Nigerian Army bears the constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property within Oyo State.

In a release signed by ASC 1 Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola,Command Public Relations Officer(PRO), the Garrison Commander emphasized that no security agency can operate effectively in isolation, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation among sister agencies. He reaffirmed the commitment of the 2 Division to continued collaboration and operational support for the Customs Command in addressing prevailing security challenges within the state.

Responding, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Adewole, acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Army in defending the nation against external aggression and maintaining internal peace. He assured the Army of the Command’s readiness to strengthen existing ties to enhance operational efficiency and collective impact.

In a related development, the Customs Area Controller and members of the Command’s Management Team, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, paid a familiarization visit to the EFCC Zonal Office in Ibadan.

During the engagement, DC Adewole commended the Commission for its sustained efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes across the country. He advocated deeper collaboration in joint operations, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building programmes.

In her remarks, the EFCC Zonal Director, Mrs. Hauwa Garba Ringim, welcomed the Customs delegation and described the relationship between the Commission and the Oyo/Osun Area Command as cordial and mutually beneficial. She pledged the Commission’s continued cooperation, particularly in intelligence-driven enforcement and joint operational activities.

The series of engagements highlight the Command’s unwavering commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with key security and enforcement agencies to strengthen national security, promote transparency, and advance effective service delivery in support of national development.
