Osun APC candidate urges church to back credible leaders, promises Justice, equity for all

…Reaffirms commitment to constitutional governance

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called on the Christian community to play a more active role in shaping the state’s future by supporting credible, competent and God-fearing leaders capable of delivering accountable governance and sustainable development.

Oyebamiji said the choice of leaders should be guided by integrity, character and capacity to serve rather than ethnic, religious or political sentiments, stressing that good governance thrives when citizens make informed electoral decisions and hold public office holders accountable.

The APC flag bearer made the call on Sunday during a worship service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Redeem Breakthrough Cathedral, Region 43 Headquarters, Osogbo, where he also solicited prayers for peaceful, free and credible governorship elections in the state.

Addressing the congregation, Oyebamiji described the Church as a moral compass with a crucial responsibility to promote righteousness, civic responsibility and ethical leadership, noting that its influence extends beyond spiritual matters to nation-building.

Quoting Proverbs 14:34, which states that *”Righteousness exalts a nation,”* he urged Christians not only to participate actively in elections but also to continue demanding transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources from those entrusted with public office.

“The responsibility of citizens does not end after casting their votes. We must continue to hold leaders accountable and ensure that public resources are deployed for the benefit of all,” he said.

Drawing lessons from the biblical leadership examples of Joseph, Daniel and King David, Oyebamiji said true leadership is founded on wisdom, integrity, justice and selfless service.

He assured worshippers that if elected governor, his administration would be guided by fairness, equity, justice and respect for all residents, regardless of their political affiliation, religious belief or social status.

“I have come to worship with you today, and I sincerely appreciate the warm reception I have received. If entrusted with the responsibility of governing Osun State, I will lead with fairness, equity and respect for all. I also humbly solicit your prayers for peaceful elections in our state,” he stated.

The APC candidate also paid tribute to Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, commending his enduring spiritual leadership and biblical teachings, which he said have continued to positively shape lives across Nigeria and beyond.

He equally applauded the Regional Pastor, Mrs. Matthew Oluyinka, for her commitment to the growth of the church and her service to the Christian community in Osogbo.

Expressing gratitude to God for His faithfulness over his life, family, Osun State and the nation, Oyebamiji described the worship service as an opportunity to seek divine guidance and reaffirm his commitment to servant leadership.

At the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Ibudo, Osunjela, Osogbo, Oyebamiji said his administration would be guided by the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees service to the people, freedom of worship, the rule of law, and equality of all citizens irrespective of religion or background.

The visits forms part of his ongoing engagements with faith-based organisations and other key stakeholders across Osun State as he continues consultations ahead of the governorship election, promoting what he describes as a vision of inclusive governance, justice, accountability and people-centred development.
