Imo 2023: Activist mobillises youths, CSOs for Uzodinma

Comrade Kennedy Iyere, a Nigeria’s frontline humanitarian activist and social entrepreneur, has finalised arrangements to flag-off a state-wide grassroots youth mobilisation campaign for Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the 11th November 2023 Imo State gubernatorial election.

According to a press statement on Thursday signed by Iyere, he would mobilise Imo youths, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) for the support and re-election of Sen Hope Uzodinma in the forthcoming election.

Iyere noted that he’ll collaborate with various youth bodies, platforms, support groups, NGOs and CSOs towards the actualisation of his mandate to win 75% of the registered youth voters of Imo State for Sen Hope Uzodinma.

According to the statement, Iyere’s youth mobilisation campaign tagged “IMO YOUTHS FOR HOPE” will kick-start on Monday, 11th September 2023, and is designed to function as the youth mobilisation unit of the campaign council of Hope Uzodinma.

“By next Monday, the 2023 Imo gubernatorial poll will be left with just 60 days to go, which means that the election is only 8 weeks away.

“With the realities before us, Sen. Uzodinma’s re-election is the only option for Imo youths. Among those vying for the seat, Sen. Uzodinma remains the best candidate to be supported by the youths because his overall performance in the last four years has distinguished him as the best governor elected in Imo State since 1999.

“The records are before us, his works have spoken for him. The forthcoming 2023 Imo guber poll is all about the youths and their dream of a better tomorrow. This is where Sen. Uzodinma stands out, as the preferred candidate for the youths of Imo State”, Iyere affirmed.

He added, “With Sen. Hope Uzodinma in charge of Imo for another four years, the state will witness the rapid socio-economic reconstruction needed for the socio-economic rehabilitation and reintegration of Imo youths in their large numbers.

“If Sen. Uzodinma is not fit for the purpose, a renowned social entrepreneur of my status wouldn’t endorse or back him for another four years.

“With his outstanding performance in the past four years, Sen Uzodinma deserves another tenure to enable him complete his ongoing developmental projects and also do more. This is my message for Imo youths and CSOs”, Iyere declared

Iyere further advised Imo youths to realise the fact that their voter’s cards are the only weapon they have to determine who will govern Imo State for the next four years.

He advised Imo youths on the need to vote for a candidate who possesses the political will and the capacity to drive infrastructural and human capital developmental skills, as well as the ability to attract international development partners for economic cooperation.

According to Iyere, Sen. Uzodinma is the only candidate among other contestants, who fits into the above-description.

He affirmed that Sen. Uzodinma embodies these capacities and strengths, which are actually the factors that compelled him to accept to mobilise voters for his re-election.

Iyere said he is flagging-off the “IMO YOUTHS FOR HOPE”, on Monday 11th September, 2023 because it is the same day the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will kick-start the sharing and collection of Permanent Voters Cars (PVCs) in Imo State ahead of the 2023 Imo gubernatorial poll.

The activist said there is no better day to significantly send a strong message across to Imo youths reflecting the need to collect their PVCs and to mobilise themselves massively to vote for Sen. Uzodinma, who is the best candidate for Imo youths.

Iyere confirmed that the IMO YOUTHS FOR HOPE is a youth-driven support group of Sen. Hope Uzodinma and it’ll serve as the youth mobilisation arm of the Hope Uzodinma Gubernatorial Campaign Council, assigned with a mandate to mobilise youths and CSOs for the re-election of Sen. Uzodinma in the forthcoming election.
