Gov. Makinde, students express satisfaction over schools resumption

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed satisfaction at the level of coronavirus safety rules compliance by teachers and students as he supervises the resumption of schools in the state on Monday.

The governor who went round to monitor the level of compliance in the areas of social distancing, use of face mask and hand washing.having provided the schools with sanitizers and all the protective kits for both teachers and Students before the resumption.

The schools management, teachers and students had earlier been sensitized on how to properly cope in the new way of life brought about by the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

Gov Makinde who carried out the assessment tour in the company of the state Commissioner for education, Science & Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Director, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mureni Adeniran  were all satisfied at the level of compliance. Some students who spoke also said the reopening of schools will help ease the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on them.

Teachers alike expressed satisfaction to the governor for reopening schools, promised to do their possible best to guide the students and, make the state shining example.

A Senior Secondary (SSCE) 2, student from Ibadan, Akorode, who spoke to nation update said life is all about adapting to challenges as they come. He expressed their readiness to abide by the COVID-19 rules to enable them move on with their lives, and thanked the governor for allowing them resume.

Schools in state were provided with washing hand tools placed at the entry points to all the classrooms.

Students wore their face masks in order to be allowed into school, there were not more than twenty students per class and food vendors were not allowed into the premises

It would be recalled that fourth-night ago, when the governor announced the resumption of schools in the state it was visited by widespread condemnation.

As schools resume this Monday amidst the daily increasing cases of the coronavirus in the country, the gains or otherwise of the schools resumption in Oyo state will come bare soonest.
