Enhancing Kogi PHC: Ododo visits Obuburu, expresses satisfaction over project’s progress

In an avowed determination to strengthen the healthcare system in Kogi state, Governor Usman Ododo has on Tuesday made a working visit to the Obuburu Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Adavi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The facility is one of the 88 impact projects launched a few months ago and is currently being upgraded to a Level 2 facility.

Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress, and commended the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Hon. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and KSPHCDA Executive Director, Dr. Mu’azu Musa Omeiza, for their dedication.

The Governor noted that the visit reflected his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare development and quality service delivery.

He also urged contractors to prioritise quality, adhere to specifications, and ensure timely completion.

Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza, while speaking at the occasion, stated that the “88 PHCs” project is a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at upgrading and revitalising 88 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, with a commitment of over N7 billion to improve healthcare delivery and contribute to universal health coverage.

Similarly, the state is upgrading seven PHCs under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), 21 PHCs through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and rehabilitating eight PHCs with support from UNICEF/Global Fund.

“Other initiatives like these demonstrate the administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services.”

The Governor was accompanied by key officials, including the Chief of Staff, Hon. Alhaji Ali Bello, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Salami Momoh Ozigi Deedat.

Their presence underscored the administration’s strong commitment to healthcare development in the state.

The upgrade of Primary Healthcare Centres across Kogi State is a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery and achieving universal health coverage.
