Breaking: Covid-19 cases in Nigeria 41 away from 6000, as FG considers ‘isolated lockdowns

Nigeria on Sunday 17 April, 2020 recorded 338 New infected cases, with 182 deaths and 1,594  discharged

According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), from its release Sunday evening were, 177 from Lagos, 64 in Kano, 21 in FCT, 16 in Rivers, 14 in Plateau, 11 in Oyo.

Other new cases are,9 in Katsina, 4-Jigawa, 4-Kaduna, 3 in Abia, Bauchi and Borno; Gombe,Akwa Ibom, and Delta 2 each, While Ondo, Kebbi and Sokoto had 1 each.

As the number of confirmed cases continue to surge, with the figure now 5959 only 41 standing in between the new figure and 6000, the federal government may be considering imposing what it called ‘isolated lockdowns.’

The chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Boss Mustapha, has said the federal government might impose ‘isolated lockdowns’ in certain parts of the country.that will not affect the entire states of the federation.

He however dismissed the possibility of another nationwide lockdown, stated that some cluster areas in certain parts of the country, would be closely monitored for possible intervention as advised by medical experts.

The PTF Chairman stated that the proposed lockdown would take after the federal government’s intervention in Kano State.

The situation  across the country he said was being   monitored closely, by the PTF to determine the ideal time to intervene in areas.
