Badagry monarch decries Senator Adebule’s neglect, praises predecessor Senator Yayi

The Alapa of Apa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Alayeluwa Oyekun Adekanmi Ajose Ilufemiloye, the Possi 111 of Apa ancient kingdom has expressed displeasure with the current senator representing Lagos West, Senator Oluranti Adebule, expressing her lack of impact in his community.

The monarch in a chart with Nation Update however praised his predecessor, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi, for his contributions to the area, including the construction of a market with 20 open shops and 20 lockup shops.

The revered monarch stated that Senator Adebule has not made any notable impact in the community, saying, “We have not in any way felt her impact. She doesn’t even know whether we exist.”

Extolling Senator Yayi, the Possi 111 of Apa ancient kingdom said, “Yayi built 20 open shops and 20 lockup shops for our people… If Yayi were to be here, we would have got more.”

Alapa said he would not forget senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi while he was Lagos west senator between 2015 to 2023, “we felt his impact in infrastructural development such as market and numerous support to our people.

Expressing his mind on the performance of other lawmakers and representatives of his people in government, the monarch extended his heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, of the house of representatives, Hon. Solomon Bonu of Lagos State House of Assembly and Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development for their support in the execution of various projects in the area some of which were electricity and road constructions.

“The current house of Representatives member for Badagry Federal constituency, Hon Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, am also elated over his works and support.

“Also to House of Assembly members, Hon Solomon Bonu, Hon. David Sotonji and Hon Mobolaji Ogunlende, commissioner for youth Development, Founder of Real Act of Kindness(RAK) Development Foundation , they have proven Thier mantles, they are going to erect tower to carry electric cable high above reach to evade vandalization.

“We have not had light in badagry-West in the last two years now. I buy fuel on daily basis. Our light came from Agbara, unfortunately vandals would always cut and steal the cables at the bridge, now, the cables would be moved across the bridge through high electric poles (towers). I thank Hon Sesi, Commissioner Ogunlende, Hon. Bonu and David Setonji.

“Hon Sesi has tried so much, money has been released for our road through his instrumentality, the project is ongoing , he has done creditably better than the previous house of representatives member. Our road used to be so bad.,” he stated.

On efforts of the monarch to improve educational facilities in the area, HRM Oba Oyekun expressed gratitude to God for his enablements to him, “ I started building a secondary school with the support of well-wishers and well-meaning sons and daughters of the community.”

The monarch further appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State government, not forgetting the immeasurable support of the former governor of the state Babatunde Raji Fashola and other stakeholders in supporting the project.

He said, “I noticed what our children here suffered in going to secondary school far away from here in Apa, I made available 5 acres of land. I built 5 blocks of classrooms with support from many good spirited sons and daughter of Apa.

Even the LCDA chairman Joseph Gbenu supported the project irrespective of the fact secondary school is not within the jurisdiction of LCDA. Even former governor Fashola supported us, built 8 classrooms at the school.

“When I finished the school blocks, which coincided with my 15th year on the throne, state government gave approval for take-off of JSS 1&2.

“To the glory of God, we have very brilliant children both in academics and sports, they came first in all the competitions they have taken part in within and outside Badagry.

“The Alapa of Apa Kingdom urged Senator Adebule to make her impact felt in the community, saying, “Let the current senator know that Apa is one of the oldest communities, she should come and make her impact felt here for posterity.

Yayi is no longer our senator, but we are still remembering his impact.”
