Audu Ogbeh, former PDP Chairman, minister, passes away at 78

Former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has died at the age of 78.

Ogbeh, who also served as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 to 2005, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025.

According to a statement by his family, he left a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication.

“With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather; Chief Audu Ogbeh,” the family stated.

“He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community. We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the example he set.”

Ogbeh’s contributions to Nigerian politics and agriculture are immeasurable. As Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2019, he championed agricultural reforms, promoted food security, and encouraged local production.

His dedication to public service earned him recognition and respect across party lines.

The family has requested privacy as they mourn their patriarch and will communicate funeral arrangements in due course. Friends, colleagues, and well-wishers have been thanked for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
