A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Leader in Alor Community, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nnamdi Ezeike, has commended the Federal Government, Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola for setting the date for the unveiling of the Second Niger Bridge. This, it’s expected would mark the formal commencement of operation of the world class edifice.
“What looked like a dream is now a reality as the Second Niger Bridge has a lot of economic and human benefits to both the South East and Nigeria in general.”
The community leader described the project as “a show of great love to the South East by the Buhari led administration”, noting the project is financed from the presidential initiative funds which are outside the regular budget of the federal government.
Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and his Labour and Employment counterpart, Chris Ngige had inspected work at the Second Niger Bridge, where the Chief of Staff announced the bridge would be put to public use in October.
Ezeike applauded the efforts of the labour and employment minister for working with federal government for making the Niger bridge a reality. The three, who were at the Onitsha-Owerri Road interchange of the link road to the bridge, also walked the entire 1.6km length of the bridge to the Asaba, Delta State end.
