ANCLA boss advocates ethical behaviour in ports operations

Freight forwarders and clearing agents in Nigerian Ports have been called upon to sustain and increase their degrees of moral values, ethical behaviours and professional diligence in the discharge of their services to the maritime industry and Nigeria at large.

By so doing, they will help contribute in building a strong peaceful, united and egalitarian, society.

Hon.Tony Iju Nwabunike, the National President,  Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), stated this in a telephone conversation with journalists to mark his 58th birthday in his Lagos home.

The philanthropist and a detribalised business icon expressed his resolve to dedicate himself to the service of humanity more than he used to, stated that in appreciation of God’s mercy in the last 30 years unto him in the maritime industry.

The ANCLA boss encouraged on the need to give, especially the lessprivileged, stressing that Nigerians and the entire humanity will enjoy a world of oneness if everyone gives to the downtrodden, from the little God has blessed them with.

His 2020 birthday celebration he said was coming at a time the world is struggling so hard to contain coronavirus pandemic, it therefore affords him opportunity to renew his service to God and humanity by embarking on greater selfless services.

Nwabunike went further to say,  “I come from a community of industrious people called Ozubulu in Anambra State where chivalry and communal living is highly encouraged. As a professional in the freight forwarding sector, I have participated actively in the maritime industry for about three decades.

“Although, I have veered into other aspects of human endeavours as a businessman, Ozubulu, Anambra State and the Nigerian maritime industry have played very vital roles in shaping my person.

“I am involved in certain philanthropic activities long before now, but the need to redouble  efforts towards such acts have further been emphasised by challenges posed by the pandemic.

”COVID-19 pandemic brought health, economic and very serious humanitarian challenges to the world. As I celebrate, I am conscious of this and will further implore well meaning Nigerians to lend hands of support to the needy around them.

” I am speaking to you from my Lagos home where I observed a very mild family celebration while passing messages of love for all that should be exemplified in good deeds to all my family members, friends and well-wishers who have been showering me with goodwill messages today.

“I am very thankful to God for his grace and mercy towards me  and giving me the blessing of life to this stage while praying to him to grant me more years which I will dedicate to serving humanity,” he said.

He reiterated the need for all Nigerians to take caution and adhere to all precautionary measures given by health experts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, mainly physical distancing, use of nose mask, regular hand-washing and using of hand sanitizers.
