Anambra Election: NSCDC to partner sister-agencies, elders, stakholders for peaceful poll

As the off-season November 6, Anambra State governorship election approaches,the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), has promised to work closely with sister-agencies, elders council and all stakeholders in the state for enduring peace before and after.

The NSCDC state Commandant, Mr Everestus Obiyo who made the promise in his office at Awka on Wednesday when he received in audience members of Anambra Elders and Stakeholders Forum for Good Leadership (ANELDERSHIP FORUM).

 

Obiyo stated that there is need for collaborate effort by all stakeholders to ensure free, credible and violence free election in the State come November 6.

In a release by the Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSC, Okadigbo Edwin, sighted by Nation Update reveals the Commandant’s readiness to provide adequate security in and around the state, before, during and after the election.

 

The command assured that the November 6 Gubernatorial Election will esperience adequate deployment of Operational, intelligence and tactical assets across every nook and cranny of the state to neutralise any threat or act(s) capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the poll.

Obiyo tasked ANELDERSHIP FORUM which is the umbrella body of all the elders, opinion leaders, critical thinkers, and stakeholders in Anambra State to enlighten Anambra youths on the need to embrace peace and work together for dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful settlement of their grievances through the appropriate authority.

The Commandant declared that NSCDC will collaborate with sister security agencies to ensure the safety of the electorate, INEC officials and their materials while setting all machineries in place for the protection of all Government’s Critical Assets and Infrastructure against vandalism.

In his remarks, leader of the delegation, His Lordship, Bishop Justice Ikpeama, informed the State Commandant that their visit was to know the state of preparedness of NSCDC in the forth coming election.

Their core mandate he stated was to bring joy and hope to the generality of Anambrarians by insisting that the ship of Anambra State be steered at all times by highly responsible people of proven integrity, who have the interest of the masses at heart.

Bishop Ikpeama appreciated the leadership of NSCDC in the State for not abdicating its responsibility of protection of lives and property thus promising to support and collaborate with the Corps in order to reduce to the barest minimum ,incidences of crimes and criminalities in the State through volunteering of credible information.
