AIG Ogbodo takes over from Olofu as new Maritime Police command boss

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Augustina N. Ogbodo on Friday, assumed office as the new AIG in charge of maritime command at the Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, Lagos.

In a released signed ASP Ihende Kelvin, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), made available to Nation Update revealed that Ogbodo has arrayed an impressive track record in the service.

 

AIG Ogbodo according to the release hails from Enugu South LGA Of Enugu State, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and also a Diploma in Police Science from Staff College Jos.

She attended several other Courses such as Advanced Detective Course, Police Staff College Jos (2002), Intermediate Command Course, Police Staff College Jos (2006), Strategic Planning and Intelligence-led Policing (2009) and Strategic Leadership and Command Course (2017).

The Force image maker Kelvin further stated that AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo is a thorough-bred Police Officer, one of the finest of our time, who could be referred to as a police officer Extraordinaire.

She had served in various formations across the country including; Lagos State Police Command, ikeja, Benue State Police Command., Force Headquarters Annex Kam-Salem Building, Obalende, Lagos.

Other areas are: Port Authority Police command, Apapa Lagos state, Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja and among others

Ogbodo in marking significant milestone in her illustrious career was further promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police where she served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

“On her elevation to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police , she served in the Administration Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters Abuja.

“Also, Department of Administration, FCT Abuja as well as the Homicide Section, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Abuja

“On her promotion to the enviable rank of Commissioner of Police, she was posted as the CP in charge of Welfare, Force Headquarters Abuja.

However, before her promotion to the rank of an AIG, she was the 26th and 3rd Woman commissioner of police in charge of Ebonyi State Police Command, where she showcased her professional skills and ended victoriously, until her promotion and posting as the AIG Maritime Police command,FHQ Annex, Obalende lagos.

“Some of her policies that drive her Administration are: Free and unrestricted access to the formation and its officers by the opening up of multiple communication channels between the formation and the General public/ stakeholders.

Community based policing with frequent interface with critical stakeholders, synergy, collaboration and cooperation with other sister agencies., collaboration with members of the public, the media and journalists as partners in progress,” the statement concluded.
