FRSC declares war on vehicle overloading, intensifies evening enforcement operations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command has declared zero tolerance against vehicle overloading, impounding several vehicles found in violation of loading regulations during a special intervention evening enforcement operation.

The Lagos Sector Commander, CC Kehinde G. Hamzat, warned motorists and commercial vehicle operators to prioritize safety over profit and comply with all road safety standards or face the full weight of the law.

The operation which is in its Week 2 Special Intervention Evening Enforcement against the menace of vehicle overloading across the state targets commercial vehicles dangerously overloaded with passengers and goods has led to the impoundment of several vehicles found in violation of loading regulations.

All impounded vehicles were compelled to offload excess goods and pay prescribed fines before release.

Some arrests recorded so far include 16 cases of overloading (OVL), 3 cases of Failure to fix speed limit Device(FSLD), 03, Light Sign Violation(LSV),

01, Drivers license Violation(DLV),  projected load in excess of prescribed limit (PLE), and other traffic offenses during the operation and 01, Number Plate Violation(NPV).

Some key points from the operation include:
– *Arrests Recorded*: The FRSC Lagos Sector Command recorded 16 cases of overloading (OVL), 3 cases of projected load in excess of prescribed limit (PLE), and other traffic offenses during the operation.

To reinforce enforcement strength, the FRSC Lagos Sector Command secured the full support of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other sister agencies, who have collectively pledged to join forces in stamping out this life-threatening practice on Lagos highways.
