COVID 19: 400 confirmed cases in two days, 104 in Kano

Nigeria has recorded  400 confirmed infected cases of Coronavirus between Wednesday 29 April and Thursday 30 April, while Kano state witnessed 104 cases within the same period.

According to report from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), released at 11:50pm 30th April,  infected number of persons rose from 196 on Wednesday to 204 on Thursday  with an increase in eight cases. The total confirmed cases for the two days was 1,722 and 1,932 respectfully.

The released figures further indicated that the number of deaths have consistently remained seven daily within the two days interval. While it was 44 on Tuesday 28th April, Wednesday was 51 while Thursday recorded 58 death cases.

Numbers of discharged cases went down from 52 on Wednesday to 17 on Thursday, with a total figures of 307 and 319 respectively.

By the Thursday release, Kano state took over the lead from Lagos state  with  80, against Lagos’ 45 new cases.

The North Eastern state of Gombe came third in the Thursday release with 12 new cases, Bauchi and Sokoto, have nine cases each, while Borno and Edo recorded seven new cases each.

Rivers and Ogun had six new cases each, while FCT, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa got four new cases each.

Kaduna received three new infected case, just as Oyo, Delta and Nasarawa got two cases each, Ondo and Kebbi got one case each.

The NCDC Twitted thus, “As at April 30, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. 71 per cent of all cases are from three states. 319 persons have been discharged while 58 have unfortunately lost their lives.”
