2023 polls: Group urges Yahaya Bello  to contest for presidency

...Gives him 40 days ultimatum to decide

A Socio Political Association known as the Inter-Tribal Association of Nigeria, (ITAN) has urged the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to declare for the 2023 Presidential election.

According to a statement made available to Nation Update, the President and Secretary, Comrade Simon Terna Anakaa and Comrade Jabir Aminu Maitura threatened legal action if the Governor failed to declare after forty days.

The Association in Federal Capital Territory threatened to drag the governor before the law Court by instituting a legal action against him if he fails to make the much-anticipated declaration to contest for the nation’s presidency at the expiration of the ultimatum of forty days.

The Association noted that Yahaya Bello’s Presidential Aspiration was not just about him as an individual but that he represented the hopes and aspirations of all the Nigerian youths.

According to the group, Bello could not afford to hesitate further on the contest for Nigeria’s Presidential election after the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention.

The statement added that so many hopes had been inspired and vested on him becoming the number one leader in the country.

It also pointed out that over 70per cent of the country’s population was predominantly youths who believed in his leadership capacity and had come to see him as the divine intervention, that could help tackle the nations security challenges and to lead the country to the desired development and transformation.

According to the statement, the association has resolved to take the line of legal action against the Yahaya Bello if he delays further in making his intentions known adding they cannot watch and allow this golden opportunity to have one of their own at the helms of affairs of the country elude them.

The statement noted that such an opportunity of having young President was not easy to come by.

It stated that over 70 per cent of Nigeria’s population consisted of youths who had thrown their weight in support of the Governor’s aspiration. It said with 2023 just by the corner, it presents an ample opportunity to take advantage of their demographic strength by taking over the mantle of leadership of the country.

The group disclosed that Bello was the best man to achieve that goal on behalf of the rest youths in the country by ensuring the desired unity, security, employment and the economic empowerment of the critical sector of the nation’s population who were women and youths.

The statement emphasised that the group was left with no other option than to employ measures that would compel Bello to stand for the presidential race for the singular purpose of representing the collective interest of the younger generation who had been marginalised by the older generation and were well over riped for leadership position of the country.

The Association also added in the statement that Bello being an aspirant from the North Central, stands a better chance of winning the presidential election on the basis that he is the sole unifying candidate that can truly unite the country together without any string of sentiment or contention.

The statement concluded that the entire focus of all youths and well-meaning Nigerians was for Bello’s declaration, adding, any further delay would not go well with the youths and Nigerians in general.

The statement therefore stressed that the association which represented the harmonious interest of Nigerian youths and masses had jointly resolved to mount intensive pressure on Bello to as a matter of urgency, come out and declare for the Presidential election within the next forty days counting from today.
