Abia State Government has said that the long-awaited commissioning of the 45-kilometer Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Alayi–Abiriba Road will take place tomorrow.

A statement signed by Prince Okey Kanu, the Commissioner For Information, said the landmark event will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, and will be officially commissioned by His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999-2007.

According to the statement, this road project represents a major infrastructural milestone of the Dr. Alex Otti-led administration and is a testament to the Governor’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure, enhancing rural-urban connectivity, boosting economic activity, and improving the lives of Abians.

The reconstructed road traverses multiple communities, unlocking access and development potentials for the good people of Umuahia, Uzuakoli, Akara, Alayi, and Abiriba, among others. It is one of several strategic projects undertaken by the present administration to modernize the state’s road network and promote inclusive development.

The Government warmly invites all stakeholders, Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Political Leaders, Women and youth groups, Development Partners, members of the Press, and the general public to join in celebrating this transformational milestone.
